Naaldzang March 2010 (English version)

Naaldzang March 2nd, 2010

I was pretty tickled to see that Tuesday, March 2nd turned out positively overflowing with lovely sunshine, especially after learning from the Belgian news that we got only 29 hours of sunshine during the month of February. Yikes! What a gorgeous change to step outside and see blue skies everywhere the entire day. Still a bit on the cold side, but all the better for to snuggle up in warm hand knits.

When I arrived at Hema, I could see Jan was already at our usual table(s). I joined him and looked around for Nathom, who had texted me just as I'd gotten there: "where are you?" I spied her at another table and waved her over, and was pleasantly surprised to hear that there were two new ladies with her. Nathom said they'd approached her about the knitting club, but were also a bit shy and so she was not sure they would follow her over to where Jan and I were.

After a couple of minutes G and her friend did join us, and that's not all. Yet another new knitter, M, arrived at about the same time (if memory serves)! M's daughter had discovered us on the internet and had printed out the relevant information for her mother to come join us. So cool! Gotta love technology, especially when mixed with knitting. ;)

I was pretty happy that Jan was there again, and also R--it had been months since we'd seen them last! Jan was busy on his, check the number: 53rd chemo cap for Zet Op Tegen Kanker. Now that is dedication. Way to go, Jan!

R brought along a beautiful finished pullover for us to admire, that she'd done in a light green bamboo yarn:

Then Poezemadam arrived, bringing our total attendance to eight:

There was much happy chatter (everyone started getting a case of the hungries when the conversation turned to food!) and exchanging of knitting advice, including Nathom demonstrating the technique by which she was using a wide ribbon yarn to knit a gorgeous ruffle scarf. I was sad that we were missing RedSamur, who unfortunately had to work that day. :( It's just not the same without her, and hopefully she'll be back with us next month, and will get to meet the new folks. :)
