The last Naaldzang meeting of the year! Our knitting club is now two years old. Two years! Where does the time go? If we knit faster, will we catch up?
Myself: purple alpaca cowl
RedSamur: alpaca jacket
Jan: cotton caps for Zet Op Tegen Kanker
After several days in a row of rainy weather, Tuesday positively overflowed with blue skies and sunshine. So lovely! I arrived for the meeting a bit after two, and said hello to a friend of mine who was coming to check out Naaldzang for the first time (who didn't have time to stay as she had too much shopping to do). She'll hopefully get to come next month with her knitting! :)
Speaking of the knitting, two of us were busy with luxurious alpaca--RedSamur with her jacket and me with my purple cowl. It was great to see RedSamur again as she had missed last month's meeting. She also came sporting a very flattering new haircut. :) She's knitting her alpaca jacket all in one piece, so there are a few pairs of circular needles holding various bits and bobs at the same time as the knitting progresses. To keep them from getting all pokey everywhere, she made these simple yet clever needle keepers:
Poezemadam was using the lovliest yarn for her pullover. Sort of a deep reddish-purple. My favorite color! Her friend R couldn't make this month because she's sick. We send well wishes to you, R!
Jan brought along a finished cotton cap, and was busy with an identical cap:
He has already knit many of these caps for cancer patients, and he's still busy. Go Jan! We also found out this meeting that he will soon be teaching a knitting class. How cool is that? :)
My alpaca cowl will be done soon, and it will be the first thing I've knit for myself--in almost four years of knitting! Don't get me wrong, I've purchased and been given yarn that will become other things for me in the future. But this will be the first thing for me that I've actually made to date, and I can't wait to wear it! I'll get a chance right around the corner, as the weather has turned colder at last.
As always, the latest pics can be found at the Naaldzang photoset on Flickr.
See you in 2010!!!
